AkronBMV.com is an informational website for the Akron BMV, Ohio Deputy Registrar Agency 7731, located at 688 Wolf Ledges Parkway, Akron, Ohio 44311. The website is provided by GovSoft in partnership with the Northeast Ohio Automobile Dealers Association (NOADA), which operates the agency. This policy explains what information the website collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

This policy applies only to this website. It does not apply to the official Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, to the Get in Line Online system, or to any other site we link to. Those services are operated by third parties and have their own privacy practices.

The short version

We built AkronBMV.com to help Akron and Summit County residents plan a BMV visit. It is an information site. You do not, and should not, enter sensitive personal information here, no Social Security numbers, driver license numbers, or payment details. Actual BMV transactions happen in person at the office or on the official Ohio BMV at bmv.ohio.gov. We collect as little as possible.

Information we collect

Information you choose to give us. If you contact us by phone, postal mail, or the website contact form, we receive whatever you include in that message (for example, your name, email address if you provide one, phone number if you provide one, and your question). Please do not include sensitive personal information in those messages.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider and analytics tools may automatically record standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you view, the site that referred you, and the date and time of your visit. This information helps us keep the site secure, fix problems, and understand which pages are useful.

Cookies and similar technologies. We may use a small number of cookies. Strictly necessary cookies help the site function. If we use analytics, those tools may set cookies or similar identifiers to measure aggregate, non-identifying usage. Our on-site search runs in your browser and does not require an account. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

We do not knowingly collect Social Security numbers, driver license numbers, financial account numbers, or other government identifiers through this website.

How we use information

We use the limited information above to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the website; to respond to questions you send us; to understand aggregate usage so we can make the site more helpful; and to comply with applicable law.

How information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in these limited situations:

  • Service providers. Vendors that host the site, deliver content, or provide analytics may process technical data on our behalf, under terms that limit their use of it.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the public, our visitors, NOADA, or GovSoft.
  • Business operations. Information may be shared between GovSoft and NOADA as needed to operate the website for the Akron BMV.

This site links to third-party services, including the official Ohio BMV (bmv.ohio.gov), the Get in Line Online queue system, the Ohio E-Check site, mapping and directions providers, and others. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Review each service’s own privacy policy before providing information to it.

Data security and breach notification

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the limited information this site handles. No website can guarantee perfect security. If a data breach affecting Ohio residents’ “personal information” as defined by Ohio law were to occur, we would provide notice consistent with Ohio’s data breach notification law, Ohio Revised Code Section 1349.19, which generally requires notice without unreasonable delay and not later than 45 days after discovery, subject to the statute’s terms and any law-enforcement delay.

Your choices and rights

As of the effective date of this policy, Ohio has not enacted a comprehensive consumer data privacy law that grants residents statutory rights to access, correct, delete, or opt out of the sale of personal data held by private businesses. Even so, because we want to be a good steward of the little information we hold, you may contact us to ask what information you have provided to us, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it, and we will respond as reasonably as we can. You can also control cookies and analytics through your browser settings and, where offered, through an analytics provider’s opt-out.

If you are an Ohio consumer with a question about how a business handles your information, the Ohio Attorney General’s office also publishes consumer guidance.

Children’s privacy

This website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it, consistent with the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common industry standard for how to respond to it, so this site does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals. You can still control cookies through your browser.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
